Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

QRport ("we", "us", "our") is a QR code and barcode scanner published by Northstack Studio. This policy explains what data the app handles, what leaves your device, and the choices you have. It applies to the QRport apps for iOS and Android and to this website.

2. The short version

QRport has no accounts and no servers of its own. Scanning, the link safety check, code generation and your history all run entirely on your device. The codes you scan are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We do not sell data, we do not use it for advertising, and there are no advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.

3. What stays on your device

  • Camera images — the camera feed is processed on the device to detect codes and is never recorded, stored or transmitted.
  • Scanned and created codes — your history is stored in the app's local storage on your phone. It is not synced, backed up to us, or readable by us.
  • The link safety check — runs offline using rules built into the app. The links you scan are not sent to any lookup service, ours or anyone else's.
  • App preferences — theme, language, and scanning settings.

Deleting the app removes all of it. You can also clear your history at any time from Settings.

4. What may leave your device

Only these, and only in the situations described:

  • Purchases — if you subscribe to QRport Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and validated through RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. We never receive your payment details.
  • Crash diagnostics — if enabled in a given release, Sentry may receive crash reports containing device model, operating system version and app version. These never contain the content of a scanned code.
  • Anonymous usage events — if enabled in a given release, we may record which screens are used and which features are tapped, in order to improve the app. The content of scanned codes is never included — only the type of code (for example "link" or "Wi-Fi") and the safety result. These events are not linked to an identity.
  • Links you choose to open — when you tap to open a link, join a network or call a number, your device hands that action to the relevant app. What happens next is governed by that destination's own privacy policy, not ours.

5. About the safety check

QRport inspects the structure of a link — for example whether it uses lookalike characters to imitate a well-known site, hides its true destination, or points at a raw IP address — and explains what it found. This check is performed entirely on your device against rules built into the app.

It is not antivirus or malware scanning, it does not consult any external reputation service, and it cannot detect every threat. A result of "nothing suspicious found" means no known pattern matched. It is not a guarantee that a link is safe, and you should always use your own judgement.

6. Permissions we ask for

  • Camera — required to read codes. Used only while the scanner is open.
  • Photo library (read) — optional, used only when you choose a photo to scan a code out of.
  • Photo library (add) — optional, used only when you save a code you created.

You can refuse or revoke any of these in your device settings. Refusing camera access disables scanning; everything else keeps working.

7. Children

QRport is not directed at children under 13, and because the app has no accounts we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone. If you believe a child's personal data has reached us, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Your rights

Because QRport does not hold an account or a copy of your data, there is nothing on our side to export or erase. Your history lives only on your device and is under your control: clear it in Settings, or delete the app. For anything relating to crash or usage diagnostics, contact us and we will help.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
